We know that connection is important, but it doesn’t always go as smoothly as we’d like. How do we build trust with a student who has stopped asking for help? Stay connected when we need to set a limit? Reconnect after an interaction that didn’t go the way we hoped?
Students are better able to engage in learning when they feel cared for and know who they can turn to for help. Yet for many students and adults who experience chronic stress and trauma, it can be difficult to trust others and receive support.
In this webinar, we’ll explore how stress and trauma shape our ability to foster compassionate and dependable relationships and what it looks like to establish trusting relationships with students with unmet relational needs. We’ll also look at the routines and interactions that shape who feels known and valued at school, and identify changes we can make in our own roles and with colleagues to help more students and adults feel like they belong.
